Organization of the report

The report describes the experimental and the computational activities undertaken in the last nine months and aimed at characterizing one laboratory vessel and two differently equipped industrial size reactors (CE12500 and BE12500). Chapter 2 describes the experimental work. Chapter 3 describes the computational work. Chapter 4 describes results obtained for the three configurations examined. In Appendix A, modelling strategies used in this work are described. Parameters used for characterization of CSTRs are presented together with the methodology used to make calculations from the data obtained by CFD simulations. In appendix B, the derivation of the power characteristics (power number versus Reynolds number curve) is shown for the laboratory reactor, the CE12500 and the BE12500. This report is accompanied by a CD-ROM containing a brief highlighted hypertext version of the work performed.
